ABOUT US
In 1975, San Antonio Bishop Patricio Flores and California educator Ernesto Robles founded the Hispanic Scholarship Fund with $30,000 in scholarships for Hispanic students in need.  Grounded in the idea that the country prospers when all Americans have access to the opportunities a college education can afford, Flores and Robles set out to help Hispanic families bridge the financial gap that prevented many students from going to college.

Thirty-five years later, HSF has awarded over $300 million in scholarships to exceptional Hispanic students across the country, making it the nation’s leading Hispanic higher education fund.  During that time, HSF has also expanded its outreach and education efforts to address the broader barriers that often keep Hispanic Americans from earning a college degree.  HSF programs have reached more than 250,000 families over the years, raising awareness within the Hispanic community about the importance of earning a college degree and providing resources to help navigate the college and financial aid process.

During the 2009-2010 academic year, HSF administered over 140 unique, customized scholarship programs, distributing over $28.7 million in scholarships to over 4,400 high-achieving students.
