Give to LA Campaign Thanks Employees
With Events and Opportunity Drawings

The Give to LA charitable agencies are thanking City of Los Angeles employees for their generous donations during the 2009 campaign with free ice cream giveaways at various City buildings including City Hall East, Housing Department, Figueroa Plaza, Piper Tech and Van Nuys City Hall. Postcards for a weekly opportunity drawing with winners posted at www.GivetoLA.org are being distributed to City employees. "The agencies want to thank City employees for their donations to the Give to LA campaign during the 2009 campaign and in previous years. All the agencies know that 2009 was a year of changes for City employees. The ice cream is a fun, inexpensive thank you. We want everyone to have a bit of fun and raise awareness of the campaign so we have put together an online opportunity drawing for employees," stated Tiffany Tatum of Community Health Charities California.

American Cancer Society Newest Addition to Give to LA Campaign

The Los Angeles City Council voted to add the American Cancer Society as the newest participant in the official City of Los Angeles Combined Charitable Campaign. The addition of ACS brings the total of the officially selected and approved charitable agencies to eleven. . All of the participating agencies are monitored and permitted by the LAPD's Charitable Services Commission. The eleven Give to LA charitable agencies serve the needs of the diverse communities of greater Los Angeles by providing programs, funding research and providing information and education. The more than four hundred individual charities supported by the eleven agencies address education, health and medical needs, poverty, homeless issues and other social needs.

Give to LA Kickoff Breakfast Scheduled for Sept 9 at Local Hotspot Cafe Metropol.

The Give to LA Campaign Kickoff and Coordinator Thank You Breakfast will be held at local jazz/world music hotspot Cafe Metropol. "We wanted to do something different again this year to thank all the departmental coordinators for the Give to LA campaign and kickoff the 2010 campaign so we selected one of the coolest cafes in downtown LA," opined Clara Chu, of Asian Pacific Community Fund. Cafe Metropol is located in the Arts District which like much of Downtown LA has seen amazing growth in the last few years. This Kickoff and Thank You Breakfast will feature speeches from key City of Los Angeles leaders including LADOA General Manger Laura Trejo. Coordinators from the 2009 Give to LA campaign will be honored and information about new developments in the Give to LA campaign will be shared. "The more than 400 agencies that the Give to LA campaign funds know that the magnanimous employees of the City will donate generously and support the diverse programs and charities despite the tough economic times.. We want to thank the Give to LA campaign coordinators for volunteering and being leaders in our effort to make a difference," stated Chris Baca of Community Health Charities California.

Community Health Charities Selected as Lead Agency for 2010 Give to LA Campaign

Community Health Charities of California was appointed as the Lead Agency and Co-Chair of the 2010 City of Los Angeles Combined Charitable Campaign. "Community Health Charities of California is honored to serve the employees of the City of Los Angeles as of Lead Agency for the Give to LA campaign. We are excited to be working with Laura Trejo, GM of the Department of Aging and all the participating organizations in this campaign," commented Chris Baca, Regional Development Director for Community Health Charities. The Give to LA Campaign offers City of Los Angeles Employees the opportunity to donate to any of the eleven participating charitable organizations and the more than 400 agencies they represent. "While these are difficult times for government employees, we must remember that there are people in our communities that are unemployed, don't have health care, struggling to pay for college, homeless or just scraping by. Every representative from all the Give to LA agencies urges City employees to donate to the charity of their choice," continued Mr. Baca

Mayor Villaraigosa Endorses Give to LA 2010

"As the City of Los Angeles Combined Charitable Campaign kicks off, I ask you all to join me in giving back to our city," writes Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to all City of Los Angeles employees in his letter endorsing the 2010 Give to LA employee giving campaign. Each year Mayor Villaraigosa and the City Council encourage city employees to support the eleven charitable organizations that represent and support over 400 charities that serve various causes including health, the environment, education, poverty, among others. The City Council will be issuing an official City of Los Angeles Proclamation announcing and endorsing the campaign.

Department of Aging Confirmed as Lead Department Spearheading Give to LA 2010

The Department of Aging and its staff led by General Manager, Ms. Laura Trejo, have been confirmed as the Lead Department to oversee the 2010 campaign. Within the Department of Aging is the Los Angeles Foundation on Aging which is one of the eleven agencies represented in the campaign. Ms. Trejo and her staff have been instrumental in seeking city-wide support for the campaign, building on over 10 years of experience running the Give to LA campaign. The charitable agencies are excited about working with a great department that serves a great need in Los Angeles.
