Who We Are

Established in 1941, Variety, The Children’s Charity of Southern California, is a community-driven nonprofit dedicated to inspiring hope, enriching lives, and building a better future for children throughout the region. As part of the global Variety network, the organization brings together supporters, volunteers, and partners to address the unique needs of children who are living with disabilities, facing health challenges, or experiencing economic hardship.

With a long history of serving Southern California families, Variety focuses on providing flexible, timely assistance where it is needed most. The organization’s work is guided by a commitment to inclusion, independence, and ensuring children have the tools and support they need to experience childhood to the fullest.

What We Do

Variety provides critical support through programs focused on healthcare, education, and mobility. By funding equipment, services, grants, and community programs, Variety helps remove barriers that can prevent children from learning, participating, and living more independently.

Through its Mobility Program, Variety provides adaptive equipment such as bikes, walkers, and other devices that help children gain confidence, independence, and opportunities to engage with their families and communities. Its Healthcare Program supports children through medical care, therapies, and specialized services, while its Education Program invests in scholarships, literacy initiatives, mentoring, and enrichment opportunities that help young people succeed.

By partnering with families, nonprofits, and community organizations, Variety ensures that resources reach children and caregivers who need them most—helping build a more inclusive Southern California where every child has the chance to thrive.
